About Me
A whole life spent in the Midwest plains, and only occasionally traveling elsewhere, has lead me to the conclusion that location matters. Both our physical and mental locations shape us in our outlook and dreams. With my mainly acrylic art, on collage, ripped off book covers, canvas, or wood, I am trying to transport others to a more positive location in their current and long range goals and hopes. To see something that transcends eternity, in the forever over the hill. Being in one place for quite a while can make you long for something else, something new and bright. And sometimes it takes someone else to fix your eyes and efforts on that new, to help you feel alive again, and perhaps even transform you completely. This is where I want my paintings to take you, along with the long-winded monikers they bear.

MY WORK
Ja Reis is Dutch for "Yes Journey." (Pronounced: "Ya Rise") Yes Journeys are something I've envisioned as a way for me to describe positive trips that you take in reality, in your mind, and in your future. To me, they also represent positive growth and transformation as a person, as well as the success and process of overcoming the negative states of anxiety, depression, and fear. Sometimes they examine and expose harsh realities, but always with a sense of hope and a mission to overcome and transcend. A "Yes Journey" is what I am aiming to portray in all of these pieces. Below each painting are the titles, along with the materials used. You can find a larger portfolio of my work at the Pinterest account found in the external links. And many of the Paintings are available for you to own at the Etsy link. Thank you so much for visiting, and I hope you will join me on our joint Yes Journey!-Matt
